Reality and Dreams...

“The gaps, between reality and your dreams, are meant to be filled in by yourself…”

Today, the usual few floorballers went to catch the ‘B’ div finals at republic poly. It was Bukit Merah against Victoria. I expected Bukit Merah to win but the results were totally unexpected...

10 – 1. It was a pure ownage by Bukit Merah.

They totally deserved to win this game. Their passing was close to perfection. There wasn’t even a chance which Victoria could get the ball in Bukit Merah’s half. Their technical skills were amazing; they could receive any passes in just one touch. This goes to show how much time and effort they have spent to train on this.

They had close to 70% possession, playing the ball around until they get a chance and then they will go in for the kill. Their great passing resulted in many wonderful play-up, creating many chances for the team as well.

Individually, they were all very good in term of their skills and fitness. They totally dominated the game. Bukit Merah had many individuals that were very good with the ball, while Victoria only had 2 of such individuals.

Probably this was why Victoria lost. A team will always need a few good players to step up and bring up the intensity of the game. Creating chances for the team, and for themselves.

So, are you gonna be one of the few individuals or the people who relies on the few individual to score or create chances for the team?

Other than having a good teamwork and good tactics, a team will need these few individuals to get in the goals.

We may not be a very experienced team with top-class teamwork or tactics, but I am sure we will be able to do much better job than we did this season.

If we all work towards our goals and cut down the gaps between reality and our dreams, I believe a top 4 is totally possible. We got talents, we got enough training time and enough exposure to competitions.

Bedok South, a team we beat last season, even manage to make it to top 4, why can’t we?

Maybe it is be’cose we are slacking too much, not putting our 100% in training.
Everybody need to put in the 100% effort, if 1 person starts to slack, everybody else will follow and this will eventually cause the purpose of training to be totally wasted.

We should cherish every single opportunity which we can train.

I promise myself to work hard but as a captain, I will not comment or force others to not slack during training. Why? I believe that no matter how hard I forced a person not to slack, he will still return to his original state after a few trainings. No matter how harshly I scold Eugene, he will smile at me, say a lame joke and continue slacking. There is nothing I can do right? He is my friend after all. I do not want the scolding to affect our relationship.

Even as a captain, I am still on the same level as my teammates, in no way should I be superior to them or should I abuse my power as a captain…

If deep down in his heart he wants to seek improvement and become better so that he can contribute to the team, he WILL work hard by himself. Just look at Jarryl, always putting in his best effort in court, gym or even circuit. Never slacking and see how far he got ahead.

I believe as long as I work hard and act as a role model to the rest, they will follow and together we will work hard towards our goal, towards top 4…

Nites…
