20/6/2010, Sunday.
Woke up late and took close to an hour to crawl out of my cozy bed. I couldn't bring myself to get up, I just wanted to lay there for the an eternity...2 games in one day certainly took the toll on me, but I eventually got up.
Did a bit of homework before going for the game against NUS Nemesis at 3.30pm.
Btw, congrats to Ryan and Jarryl for scoring 1 goal each in our 8-2 win against NTU Hurricanes.
Warm-up and stretching was done as usual. As the coach announced the players that were going to play for today, I wasn't even surprised that I had to sit out for this game. After yesterday's game, I was already pretty sure that my performance wasn't impressive at all.
During yesterday's game against Hurricanes, I hardly pose a threat to the opponent. Unlike the other forwards, they were all very dangerous and look likely to score when the opportunity arises.
All I did for the game was to pressure the opponents. There was nothing else I could do. I had a chance on goal and I shot right at the keeper... Line 2 played well, without me contributing much anyway. I felt so useless for once...
That night, I reflected deeply on what went wrong. I realise that I wasn't really comfortable with the ball. If I had an option to reset or dribble, I would reset. Sometimes, I even feel that it would be better if they don't pass the ball to me. I wasn't confident with myself. When I have the ball, there was nothing much I could do. I don't even pose a threat to the opponent at all...
Best in catholic high? Look like I'm the worst among the 4 of us for now.
Jarryl as usual, is dangerous and fast.
Joshua is pretty impressive with his 'cross dribbling or watever you call it', he could pretty easily dribble past 1 or even 2 players.
Ryan is getting much better and his distribution of the ball is rather good.
Me? Other than shooting, there is nothing much I can say about myself. Furthermore, my shots are not consistent.
Back to the game, we lost narrowly by a goal, with the game ending 4-5 to the opponent's favour. Ryan had a close chance of scoring the winning goal but it hit the post. Many argued that the ball hit the inner post but the referee thought otherwise. Felt pretty sad for him but it's all over anyway.
Took Mr Han's car and he dropped me off at Bishan. Yes, he got a car now... Not a bike anymore... He just bought it last week, so I presume I'm one of his first few passengers =)

It was only 6 when I reached home. So, I grabbed my stick and went to my void deck to train since I wasn't really tired as I didn't play during the game.
The void deck that I do my individual training...
Knowing that I have to work on being dangerous, a threat to the opponent, I decided to start on dribbling. Not giving myself anytime to think, I instantly took the ball and dribble pass an imaginary defender. Guess what did I do?
Wasn't left-right.
Wasn't a spin-a-round.
It was gliding~~
Surprising you might find it but I realised that I had unconsciously started gliding until it became my most comfortable move I would execute when I'm dribbling.
So, I decided to work on gliding. After 1 one hour or so, I more or less mastered the art of gliding. Don't laugh, but I more or less know how JB does his moves. I learnt 3 of them, I could execute 1 quite smoothly, can execute the 2nd one a little, but can hardly do the 3rd one. Hehe, after I understand how gliding work, all those moves that JB looked rather okay for once.
But of course, I can't do it as well as he does it. There is many things I will need to work on if I want to use gliding well. I will work hard!!!
Hopefully gliding can make me more dangerous now. Since my left-right now is pretty okay, it should be time I work on some dribbling=)
Although I might be last among the 4 right now, but I believe I will get back up in no time=) I'm the MVP remember=)
I seriously enjoy this competition among the 4 of us right now. There is no rivalry but competitiveness that will push us to do better. I will work hard and get back in the race!!!
Nites!!!
